Porcelain water cup "MOUNTAIN_WATER" that resembles an Austrian alpine region designed by Viennese artist Hanna Burkart and produced by the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory Augarten.
Art meets Nature: opposing concepts that have been connected in Austria for hundreds of years.
Art and culture are at home in Austria. In the course of planning its program focus on ”Nature Reloaded“ for 2015, the Austrian National Tourist Office initiated a collaborative project with the University of Applied Arts in Vienna during the winter semester of the 2013/14 academic year. Students at the university were invited to participate in a competition addressing the renewed desire to reconnect with nature. The Viennese artist Hanna Burkart won first prize for her porcelain cup MOUNTAIN_WATER: “My piece MOUNTAIN_WATER reflects the imposing alpine landscape of Austria as well as its exceptional water quality. The translation of these ideas into porcelain and the function as a drinking cup serve as daily reminders for these distinctive features of Austria, . . .” as Burkart noted at the prize ceremony.
